Painting a Legacy: How Divine Design & Marketing Brought School Mascots to Life Across District 15

When it comes to school pride, nothing brings a campus together quite like a mascot. More than just a logo or costume, mascots are visual representations of a school’s values, culture, and community spirit. At Divine Design & Marketing (DDM), we specialize in building brand identities and recently, we had the incredible opportunity to lead a district-wide school branding project that reimagined mascots for more than 20 schools in Community Consolidated School District 15 (CCSD15), based locally in the northwest suburbs of Chicago.

Now, those mascots aren’t just digital, they’re larger than life, proudly painted across school buildings and entrances throughout Rolling Meadows, Arlington Heights, Palatine, and surrounding communities.

A District-Wide Rebranding Initiative with Purpose

When CCSD15 approached DDM, the goal was ambitious yet clear: create a consistent and modern visual identity across the entire school district while still honoring each school’s individuality. As one of the largest elementary districts in Illinois, District 15 wanted to ensure each school’s mascot reflected its unique culture, while aligning with refreshed district-wide branding standards.

Our creative team worked closely with the district’s communications department to conceptualize and illustrate mascots that would be energetic, welcoming, and enduring for years to come.

Each school mascot was thoughtfully crafted with:

  • Age-appropriate design appeal for K–8 students
  • Clean lines and bold colors that translated across digital and print formats
  • Timeless character and charm to support long-term brand equity

From the powerful Carl Sandburg Spartans to the spirited Willow Bend Wolves, we helped define the visual legacy of schools across the district.

From Design Studio to School Walls

Fast forward to 2025, and our mascot designs are now proudly displayed on the exterior walls of District 15 schools—serving as bold beacons of school pride and creative identity. To capture this exciting transformation, our DDM content team visited several local campuses to document the mascots in their new home environments.

Effective school branding goes beyond just aesthetics. Mascots help students develop a sense of belonging, foster school pride, and create continuity across communications and signage. For teachers and administrators, they serve as rallying points for school culture and engagement.

Benefits of school mascot branding include:

  • Enhanced school spirit and community pride
  • Cohesive visual identity across apparel, websites, and signage
  • Instant recognizability for new families, partners, and visitors
  • Unified district messaging across multiple campuses

Proud to Support Our Local Schools

As a women-owned marketing and design agency based in Rolling Meadows, DDM is deeply invested in supporting local education and community-driven projects. Many of our team members have personal ties to these schools either as parents, alumni, or residents of District 15 communities making this project especially meaningful.

We’re grateful to the CCSD15 communications team for their partnership, vision, and trust throughout the branding process. From brainstorming sketches to final digital files and now full-scale building installations, this project reflects the heart of what we love to do: bring brands to life in meaningful, community-centered ways.
